Submit to Clover & White

SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED

What We Love

Clover & White are open to submissions from all, especially unpublished writers.

We are open for submissions year round, and publish on a rolling basis.

As emerging writers ourselves, we are particularly interested in work by unpublished and underrepresented writers and voices, from communities that aren’t considered ‘the majority’. If you feel this includes you, please explain why in the body of your submission email.

We want to offer a platform to other emerging writers. Our goal is to offer exposure to writers at the beginning of their career as well as making them feel welcomed into the writing community. If an acceptance from us is the drive a writer needs to have more confidence in their own craft then we’ve really achieved what we are hoping for.

Your submission doesn’t need to be Pulitzer Prize winning, but it should be polished. We are looking for pieces that immediately hook us, and take us somewhere interesting. For more information on this, read this short interview we did with Jim Harrington.

The best way to see what a Zine is all about, is to read what they’ve already published!

Guidelines

There is no deadline or theme at present.

We accept work from authors who have been published in other literary magazines.

The piece you submit should be original and unpublished elsewhere. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable; however, please let us know immediately if your work is chosen to be published elsewhere.

Poetry — 1 poem or a collection of 3. Poems should be no longer than a page of A4.

Flash fiction — 1 piece of flash fiction. Your flash can be a story or a moment. Min 200 words, max 500 words.

Short stories — 1 short story. All short stories should be min 500, max 2000 words.

Poets, feel free to format your piece however you’d like. However, if you are submitting prose, please format the text correctly, using the appropriate paragraphs, indentations, speech marks, and dialogue tags.

A legible font at 12pt is fine.

You may send work from anywhere in the world, but all submissions must be in English.

Submission is free. Clover & White is run entirely by volunteers who pay for operating costs themselves. Therefore, unfortunately we are not able to pay anyone for their work at this time.

Please send your work as a Microsoft Word or PDF file.

Please read the specific guidelines below and email your submission to cloverandwhitesubmissions@gmail.com

In the subject line put: Your Name and your type of submission ie. Poetry/Flash Fiction/Short Story

Do not include an author biography. This will be requested upon acceptance.

We only need the documents with your creative work, please do not send CV’s, commentaries with your work, author images, or pieces that do not adhere to the guidelines.

If your work is accepted, please wait 6 months from publication to submit again.

If you do not receive a response within 16 weeks, please feel free to chase us, however, it is likely that your piece was unsuccessful.
